For my group we created an logo the connects us all which is America writing in a codded text. For my personal design I added the German flag into the background to represent my German heritage. The thing that I liked the most about this challenge was the freedom of being able to create what ever we wanted to which I prefer much more that having to follow guidelines.
Japanese art tend to be more of historical event, building, plants/flowers/trees. African art tends to be most tribal paintings of people, great warriors, or animals, animal spirits. Q&A
For my art challenge I decided to work on my shading skills. I found a video on YouTube that showed simple shading methods https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0gTsyP5Thps. the purpose of this was to show how the light hit a sphere and created a shadow. After working on my shading I tried to draw a winter landscape using the shading skills to draw the trees. In my original image I have a cabin in the back ground of the drawing. After drawing the cabin in the background I thought it looked better without it so I cut it from the paper.
For my first art challenge I chose the 2D project. I came up with my idea by looking at pictures people have drawn on the internet. I found a template for a drawing and that is where I started. I began by drawing the basic out line of the character then added a few different designs along the way. (Image from internet above) Once I finished the sketch I started to shade the hair and eyes darker to bring them our more. After I completed my first drawing I tried to redraw the sketch but change the colors used in shading. In the end i decided that I liked my first drawing better so I decided to use that one
When I was thinking for a design I decided that i would use my initials I and H. I first thought of having a pentagonal design in the background but, i knew it would take too long to carve out the background. Instead of that I used a more simple design to save time carving. at the bottom of the design I also use my birth-date 1013 or October, 13 to make the image more personal.
